CACTUS LANGUAGE TRAINING

1:14pm Tuesday 28th March 2006

If you want to learn French in Liverpool there are a number of different ways to go about it.

You could ask a French person on the street, although you would probably be ignored/arrested. You could sign up with a language school but this doesn't fit with everyone's routines.

Alternatively, you could arrange for a professional language trainer to teach you in your own time. This final route is being taken by numerous learners around the UK and, indeed, the world.

Whether you want to learn French in London or French in Edinburgh, there is a course to suit you. There are two week superintensive courses aimed at equipping the learner with enough French to survive on holiday or year-long intensive courses which will leave the learner with enough French to successfully run a business.

You need to be clear in your mind as to what your objectives are before starting a course. Only then can the teacher tailor your experience just for you.

Learning French in Manchester need be no different to learning French in Newcastle, as long as the conditions are correct for learning. A calm environment is essential, along with space to reflect and revise on any new knowledge that has been taken on board. While a classroom isn't always the best environment for learning, a calm space for reflection is one of the prerequisites for learning a language (the others being a willingness to learn and a source of knowledge).
