A JUNIOR rugby player from Belgium was flown to hospital after being injured during a match at Kingsmead yesterday.

Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance were called after a player fell awkwardly ten minutes into the second half of a game between the High Wycombe Rugby Club under 17s and Boitsfort from Belgium.

Chair of Youth Rugby in High Wycombe Glenn Gavin said: “They are a club we have had a great relationship with for 25 years. He fell awkwardly during the course of the game.

“We had a physio at the scene who could identify potential injury in the shoulder and neck region. We called the ambulance as a precautionary measure.”

The boy was flown to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough. An x-ray yesterday proved inconclusive and he will have another scan today.

Buckinghamshire County Rugby Club under 16s were also playing at Kingsmead against Hampshire.

Mr Gavin, 49, added: “The hospital are feeling quite positive. His mum and dad are now with him.

“He is comfortable in hospital and getting the best treatment.”

When there is a rugby being played at Kingsmead the road is an accident waiting to happen why are they allowed to park on both sides of the road?. Where are all the traffic wardens that suddenly appear if you park on roads near Adams Park on match days? Glad the lad is doing ok

at least these rugby players are doing something. most of them are kids with parents supporting them. perhaps you would prefer them getting into trouble. l
