THERE was a celebratory mood in Wycombe High Street as the Mayor opened a new charity shop which will sell discounted furniture and electrical items.

Mayor of High Wycombe Jane White opened the British Heart Foundation store alongside the group of volunteers who will work at the shop.

Volunteer coordinator Lorraine Keogh said there are 25 unpaid workers with eight volunteers from Action for Employment which helps people get back into work.

She said: “We have had an absolutely fantastic response from volunteers and agencies in the town.

“We run beautiful, lovely shops and it will make a big difference to the High Street.”

It sells bedroom and dining room furniture and fridges, washing machines and televisions.

Ms Keogh added: “We are asking the people of High Wycombe to support us. If there are any items they would like to donate then please call 08442489155.”
