Flackwell Heath man sentenced to 28 months in prison

A 19-YEAR-old man has been sent to prison after pleading guilty to a number of thefts and burglaries as part of a gang.

Jack Brown from Links Way, Flackwell Heath was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday with three other men.

Jack Hearn, 22, of Sawyers Close, Windsor, James Waters, 23, of Windermere Way, Slough and Nathan Wicks, 22, of St George's Crescent, Slough all pleaded guilty and have been sentenced to more than seven years in prison in total.

The court heard the charges related to a spate of thefts and burglaries in March, including incidents in Marlow, Henley, Bracknell and Chalfont St Peter.

On March 17 a cream leather case was stolen from a car parked outside a hotel near Marlow and in the area of Lower Road, Chalfont St Peter a trail motorbike and two push bikes were stolen from a shed.

On March 18 at about 1.40am Hearn, Waters and Brown were stopped while driving on the A355, near J2 M40 in a Ford KA.

Officers found a pair of bolt cutters which were later forensically tested and linked to the shed burglary in Chalfont St Peter. The pedal bikes were later found near Lower Road with Brown's fingerprints on the frame.

A yellow Yamaha trail motor bike made off at speed when the Ford was pulled over and Wicks was later identified as the motorcyclist and arrested.

Brown and Wicks asked for leniency due to their drug problems and Waters said he had committed crimes because he was bored. Hearn, asked for sympathy, as he has a young baby.

Judge Lord Parmoor sentenced Brown to 28 months, Hearn 30 months, Wicks 16 months and Waters 19 months.

The gang asked for a total of 35 other burglaries and vehicles to be taken into consideration.

Det Sgt Gill Fox, the officer who led the investigation, said: “Most thefts and burglaries in South Bucks are committed by people from outside the district. Burnham’s Priority Crime Team recognises this and therefore works extensively with officers in other police areas to bring criminal gangs to justice.

It takes seconds for a thief to break a car window and grab a bag, laptop or similar item from a car seat, so make sure you don’t leave valuables in your car or, at the very least, not on display.”
