DELAYS are expected on A4129 from Thame to Princes Risborough as a bridge undergoes a ten week refurbishment.
The bridge is on the Thame Road over the Chiltern rail line and requires repairs to its steelwork.
There will be traffic lights for single lane traffic from Monday to October, 1 and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
A Network Rail spokesman said: "This vital refurbishment project, which will benefit rail and road users, will be carried out quickly, quietly and with a minimum of fuss. We thank road users in advance for their patience."
Engineers will strengthen the structure and carry out general work to improve its appearance.
The work should mean the bridge will not need further maintenance for 25 years and is being funded entirely by Network Rail.
