'Depressed' Bourne End man hanged himself

A 49-YEAR-OLD who “lost confidence” after being injured in a fall hanged himself due to depression, an inquest heard.

Danny Bunce was found at his home in Hedsor Road, Bourne End, by his partner of 18 years, Denise, on June 17.

The inquest heard that Mr Bunce, a painter and decorator, was knocked out during an accident when he was helping a friend cutting down a tree.

Shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with depression, the inquest at Wycombe Law Courts heard.

As a result he took group therapy sessions but he was always “very quiet” after them. In December he attempted to kill himself by taking a drug overdose, but he survived.

His partner said in a statement Mr Bunce would feel “very down” some days due to his depression but promised he would not make another attempt to take his life.

But he was found dead at his home six months later, with his partner having to force her way into their home as all the windows and doors were locked. No note was found.

Asked about her partner's accident, Mrs Bunce said: “He just lost his confidence. It frightened him.”

Coroner Richard Hulett recorded a verdict that Mr Bunce took his own life.
