TWO brave fundraising staff took on the Chilterns Three Peaks Challenge to make the final checks before the big event in a few weeks time.

Ruth Barber and Kerri Coote walked the 18 mile route ready for the biggest fundraising event of the year for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.

Walkers can choose a five, nine or 18 mile route on Sunday, September 19 with all money raised going towards the charity which helps people with life-limiting illness be cared for in their own homes.

Ruth Barber, community and events fundraising manager at IRHH, said: “We aren’t particularly fit but we finished in under eight hours which included a stop for lunch.

“The paths on the Ridgeway are well established and we were surprised to find that the rain had little effect under foot and the views were amazing, even on a grey day.”

There are still spaces available for people in the area to take part. All walkers will complete the five mile route from Princes Risborough to Wendover which takes in Whiteleaf Cross and Coombe Hill.

There will be a BBQ in Wendover and for the first time this year walkers can then complete the 18 mile walk which continues onto the third peak at Ivinghoe Beacon.

Entry costs £15 for adults and £7.50 for children, which includes a t-shirt, transport on the day, a fundraising pack, a medal and a Jordans Frusili bar as the company is one of the event's sponsors.

Further details about the event and how to enter can be found at www.c3peaks.com.
