AN “utterly dangerous” rapist who “used” a vulnerable 15-year-old girl has been jailed for at least seven years.
Barrie Seymour called his victim “scum” in a police interview and considered himself her “social and intellectual superior”, an Aylesbury Crown Court judge said on Friday.
He shook his head as he was led away to the cells after Judge Christopher Tyrer told him he had “never shown any remorse for one moment”.
The 29-year-old, of The Chase, Chesham, was convicted by a jury of three charges of rape and five of sexual activity with a child.
Judge Tyrer said the offences against the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were “violent, repetitive, uncaring and disrespectful”.
As well as being jailed Seymour was given a restraining order against his victim, which will last indefinitely, and he will remain on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
Passing sentence, the judge said: “You are now in complete denial, as you were during the course of your trial. You are wholly unrepentant. You have never shown any remorse for one moment. All you are claiming about is a miscarriage of justice.
“I regard you as devious, deviant and dangerous. You are an utterly dangerous man. Any woman entering a relationship with you will be in grave danger.”
Referring to Seymour's victim, Judge Tyrer said: “Sadly, she became infatuated with you. You regarded her as scum; that was how you described her to police in a rare moment of candour.
“You regarded her as beneath you on every basis.
“In short, you used her and her body for your own sexual gratification.”
Judge Tyrer said it could be “years” before the full effects of the attacks on the girl are known.
Sally Hobson, who prosecuted during the trial, told the court: “She doesn't believe the true impact has yet hit her.”
She added it will be some time before the girl “realises what an abusive situation she was in”.
Mrs Hobson said the restraining order would give the girl “additional piece of mind”.
Seymour was cleared of two further counts of rape by jurors.
He has no previous convictions but was cautioned for an incident “connected with his partner”, the court heard.
Stuart Jessop, defending, said although the incident that led to the caution involved violence, it was “not in the same class” as the offences Seymour was being sentenced for on Friday.
DS Nicola Corani of Chiltern CID said after sentencing: “This conviction for rape shows our determination to bring offenders to justice.
“The victim was a young and vulnerable girl and Seymour took advantage of this.
“The victim has been very brave from initially reporting this incident and throughout the court proceedings.”

It doesn`t work and has never worked, in the long term: if we do sanction the taking of all dignity from anyone - for whatever reason - then we too are complicit in the same crime. It`s the same for capital punishment: it makes murderers of us all. And if justice means nothing but revenge then we are all in deep trouble. Scum he may be, but I don`t want to join him, thanks.

THE TROUBLE WITH ALL YOU SOFT BELLIED LIBERALS IS THAT BY BEING SOFT ON CRIME YOU ARE SENDING OUT THE WRONG MESSAGES. WHAT WE NEED IS A GOOD OLD FASHIONED WHIPPING POST OR THE BIRCH AND THEN PUT THESE SCUM-BAGS ON HEAVY DUTY S**T CLEANING HARD LABOUR. STOP BEING SOFT ON THESE SCUM-BAGS JUDGE

I certainly don`t think such a man should should be cheerfully released after a short spell of doing crosswords; but nor do I feel that the knee-jerk "smash violence" mantra has any meaning beyond a poor joke. We have a justice system which needs a lot of adjustment...
Out of interest dtap, what sort of punishment would you suggest for him? Freedom after a few years in prison or a dose of his own medicine?

Having been found guilty of raping a 15 yo girl I should imagine that there will be quite a few fathers inside who also have teenage girls who may well mete out their own retribution. Perhaps this will dissuade him from reoffending in the future?

Sorry, people; but however vile this man is, violence never cures violence (read your history) and never will.

The Judge wrote:Dear Judge; you know not of what or whom you speak: as I said, it`s justice we need, not cheap vengeance - if the poor girl were my daughter, the job of the police would then be to keep me away from this man. Why? because vengeance and justice are rarely commensurate..... I presume you countenance the cutting off of hands for thieves?
