A 23-YEAR-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison after smashing a glass in a man's face at The Legion, Princes Risborough which led to the victim losing an eye.
Anthony Brown from Northfield Road, Princes Risborough was found guilty by a jury at Aylesbury Crown Court of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday following a four day trial where he was found guilty by a majority verdict of 10 to two.
The sentence relates to an assault which took place at the The Legion in Bell Street on Friday, January 16 2009.
Brown ran at a 40-year-old man, who was in the club with friends, and smashed a glass in the left side of this face, which resulted in deep facial lacerations and the victim losing an eye.
Brown fled the scene and was arrested the next day.
Det Con James Oxley, who led the investigation, said: “The victim sustained horrific, life changing injuries, as a result of the assault. I am pleased with the sentence and I hope now Brown is in prison for his actions, the victim can start to rebuild his life.
“I hope this also makes other people aware of the consequences of such actions, is it worth losing years of your life in prison and having a criminal record for the rest of your life which will affect the choices and decisions you can make in the future.”
