AN ALIEN invasion was the big scoop for the staff of the Evelyn Street Primary School News.
Two visitors from Rigel 4 crash-landed their spaceship during assembly.
The excited pupils from the Sankey Bridges school rushed off to design and write a newspaper based on the curious aliens' question what makes you happy?
And the Warrington Guardian helped out by providing advice on how to investigate the story and design a school newspaper.
The Evelyn Street reporters discovered the two aliens, Morton and T'Pol, were 130 years old and ate nothing but pink jelly.
The pupils used their own press cards and notebooks and asked tough and thought-provoking questions before other children laid out the pages on computer.
The newspapers they made were sold at the end of the day for 10p each to raise money for the school.
The children spent the day thinking about what makes them happy, learning new skills and had a great time.
A DVD is being made of the whole day.
And the Warrington Guardian discovered that in their spare time, the aliens were former Penketh College pupils helping out for the day.
The event was the first of two consecutive creative days held at the school.
The second was based on Alice in Wonderland and included a Mad Hatter's tea party.
