MOTORISTS will endure short term pain for long term gain as road works to the A404 Amersham Hill near High Wycombe Railway Station resume next week.

Buckinghamshire County Council will begin work on January 11 until January 14 between 8pm and 6am.

The later times are expected to ease traffic congestion around the station.

Cabinet Member for Transport Valerie Letheren said council are working closely with Chiltern Railways and their contractor to minimise disruption to traffic.

``Doing the works during the evening is likely to cause disturbance to local residents for which I am sorry and would ask for their co-operation and patience at this time," she said.

Chiltern Railways General Manager South Chad Collins added the work on the highway is a major step in delivering improved traffic flow through the new station transport interchange.

``We would encourage those driving to the station to allow more time to get to the station in the morning, and be prepared for a slight wait to exit the station in the evening. We thank our customers for their understanding whilst the work progresses."

Drivers can expect some delays as three-way temporary traffic signals will be in operation.

Residents will experience increased noise levels, however Council have emphasised every effort will be made to carry out the noisier activities early in the night.
