CHESHAM kids got a taste of hip hop culture on Saturday night at the Chiltern’s Got Talent: Beatz on the Street.

Community Sports Coordinator Leonie Smith said the kids enjoyed the chance to take part in workshops, learning about street dance, break dance, Parkour or street cheerleading and graffiti art.

The 70 kids and parents came for the night and which had a number of youth groups hosting stalls.

The Parkour group performed for the audience after only coming together in November.

Ms Smith said: “They had only been practising for a couple of months. They had some good moves and some of the coaches joined in.’’ The numbers may have down on what they hoped but it just meant the kids got closure attention from the teachers.

“They really did. We had one round of workshops and we repeated them so everyone could get a go.

“It was an opportunity for young people to come and speak to organisations relative to them.’’ Ms Smith hopes to hold a similar event next year but she said its return is dependent on funding.
