WYCOMBE district's Tory Leader says she is “sorry” a senior colleague has quit the party but “it does not come as a complete surprise”. Councillor Dennis Green, representing Princes Risborough, yesterday dramatically resigned.
He said there is “internal warfare” among Tories at WDC which is “tearing the party apart”.
The Wycombe Air Park stadium proposal is a “complete betrayal of our rural heritage”, he wrote to party leaders.
Cllr Green will now continue as an Independent.
Responding today, Wycombe District Council Leader Cllr Lesley Clarke said: “We have known for sometime that Dennis’ views are quite distant from those of the rest of the group and although we are sorry that he has taken this decision it does not come as a complete surprise.
“In politics there is plenty of room for honest disagreement and we will, I am sure, continue to work together on the Council for the benefit of Wycombe District.”
