A POEM written by a woman in High Wycombe about the upcoming Royal wedding has been acknowledged by the Royal family.

Mary Mullet, 57, of Gibson Road, sent the poem off at the beginning of February, and after weeks of no reply, was surprised when she received a letter from St James’s Palace.

“I have written poems for the Royal family several times,” said Mary. “On many occasions I have received a response, but this time I thought that they would be too busy with organising the wedding and sending out the invitations.”

Mary works as a nursery nurse at Cressex Day Nursery, but has been writing poetry since the age of 15.

Her letter from the Palace includes a thank you from Prince William and Kate Middleton and said that Mary’s words were ‘greatly appreciated.’ “The Royal family are very special, simply because of who they are,” said Mary. “I was very fond of Princess Diana and I think Kate looks lovely.

“She and William seem great together and I think they will be a very happy couple.”

Mary will be watching the royal wedding at home with her family, and plans to continue writing poetry.
