BBC Breakfast presenter and Jordans resident Bill Turnbull officially opened a new riding trail in Hodgemoor Woods at the weekend.

'Susie's Loop' was opened on Saturday to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Hodgemoor Riding Association. It has been created in cooperation with the Forestry Commission.

Mr Turnbull regularly walks his dogs in the woods and described the woods as an 'oasis of calm' in the area. He added: “I'm looking forward to making good use of the new trail.”

In the last ten years, the association has raised nearly £100,000 towards maintaining trails at the woods, which are located to the west of Chalfont St Giles.

Chairman Marcus Bicknell, said: “Our association is thriving. Buckinghamshire has one of the highest concentrations of riders in the country, and we now have over 250 members.

“Our partnership with the Forestry Commission means that those members have access to over 4km of safe, off-road trails in a beautiful location.

“But we aren't only thinking of the riding community, we recognise that horses can damage surfaces... so we concentrate on building and maintaining trails that can be enjoyed by walkers and cyclists as well as riders.

"All users can be proud of the extraordinary amenity available to us.”
