A TIMELINE outlining key decision dates in the stadium saga has been announced by Wycombe District Council.

The schedule shows when major decisions and key steps are expected to be made by the authority over the controversial plans for a community stadium and sports project.

The first decision was made at March’s Cabinet meeting where members agreed to extend its collaboration agreement with Wycombe Sports Developments Ltd.

The authority earmarked £60,000 towards work to be carried out over the next six months on the project under the new agreement with WSDL.

A 'strategic outline business case' is due to be revealed after the local elections in May, which will be put to Cabinet on June 13.

The authority says this will ‘examine the reasons why the council should continue to be involved with the project and recommend how the council could protect itself against the risks associated with being involved.’

A full business case is expected to be unveiled at the end of September or early October, should the council decide to proceed with the proposals at that stage.

The plan would be presented to Cabinet on October 31. Should this receive the green light from councillors, contracts would be drafted out between the concerned parties.

The council’s Independent and Review Commission is also expected to scrutinise the project and any business case put to Cabinet.

The council said ‘it estimates’ WSDL would undertake a pre-planning application public consultation of the plans towards the end of 2011, before submitting a full application.
