LEON Holden takes charge of Wasps for the final time tomorrow before departing for Japan.

The New Zealander will be looking to finish his time with the Adams Park outfit on a high with victory against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park on Saturday.

Performances have improved since Holden took temporary charge of the black and golds after the departure of Tony Hanks earlier in the season, but he has not been able to stop a poor run of form that means Wasps will miss out on a top-six place.

And they head for Devon knowing defeat will see the Chiefs overtake them and leave them in a disappointingly low ninth place.

December’s 24-12 win over Exeter at Adams Park seems a long time ago now, when Wasps clocked up a fourth Aviva Premiership win in a row to move them up to the heady heights of fourth.

But it’s been pretty much downhill ever since, with Wasps winning just three of the 11 league matches played since then.

Holden will know Exeter won’t be pushovers, with Wasps losing 29-6 on their last trip west in their opening match of the LV Cup.

He said: "They will be looking to celebrate what has been a successful first season in the Premiership and there's no better way to do that than take the scalp of a club like London Wasps."

Holden added: "We are going to be looking to the future with guys who are going to be around next year and we know we are going to be up against an Exeter side who will be motivated to win.”
