I HAD great pleasure in visiting nine of the 11 official street parties in Wycombe District last Friday, April 29 in celebration of the royal wedding.

I was accompanied to each party by one of our local MPs and I just wanted to say through your paper what a great experience and pleasure it was to see the sheer enjoyment, enthusiasm and happiness experienced by everybody on this wonderful occasion.

The effort put in by each organiser was fantastic in the way they arranged bunting, tables and food and on several occasions I was told by people, who had been near neighbours for many years, had only just met through these parties.

The festive spirit was such a joy to witness and to be part of, all of which transcended race, colour, creed and politics which, to me, displays our true British spirit.

I would like to express my great appreciation to each and every person who was involved in organising, participating and the inevitable clear up of each of these parties for their foresight and involvement in making the royal wedding celebrations come alive amongst our local community.
