TWO of the most outspoken councillors against the community stadium will be part of the new team heading up Wycombe District Council.

And two councillors who were re-elected without a contest in their Greater Hughenden ward at the the May 5 elections also join the Cabinet.

The Conservative controlled council will officially confirm the new Cabinet appointments at a meeting tonight.

These Cabinet positions assign a specific area of responsibility to each member, who is accountable for everyday decision-making.

Greater Marlow ward Cllr Dominic Barnes, re-elected on an anti-stadium platform, will become Cabinet Member for HR, ICT and Customer Services.

Chiltern Rise ward Cllr Jean Teesdale will be appointed Cabinet Member for Democratic, Legal and Policy.

She was the only member of the previous Cabinet to openly express her opposition to the stadium proposal for Wycombe Air Park in Booker, Great Marlow.

Greater Hughenden ward Cllr Audrey Jones, who also criticised the plans, will be Cabinet Member for Environment.

She and new Joint Deputy Leader Cllr David Carroll were both re-elected without a vote being cast because no opposing candidates were put forward for their ward.

Finance remains the remit of Cllr Roger Wilson, while the newly created position of Cabinet Member for Big Society and Localism is Hazlemere South Cllr James Malliff.

Cllrs Katrina Wood becomes Cabinet Member for Community, Cllr Hugh McCarthy Cabinet Member for Planning and Sustainability.

Joint Deputy Leaders Cllrs Arif Hussain and David Carroll had already been announced.

They will rotate the responsibility of the role every six months.

Cllr Hussain takes the Property portfolio while Cllr Carroll will look after Homes, Housing and External Partnerships.

The Cabinet has been chosen by newly elected Leader Cllr Alex Collingwood - whose scrutiny committee report was highly critical about the stadium plans.

He will officially take the reins from outgoing Leader Cllr Lesley Clarke, who decided to step down.

Members of the various committees will also be confirmed.
