WYCOMBE Wanderers fans who attended last night’s meeting about a new stadium were “excited” at the plans, say the firm behind the plans.

Wycombe Sporting Development Limited met with Blues fans at Adams Park on Monday evening to discuss the plans and take questions from supporters [see link to previous story, below].

Speaking after the meeting, Mike Brooks, CEO of WSDL, said: “We had an excellent turn out tonight with over 100 people in attendance. Following our presentation of the Wycombe Sporting Village plans, we took questions from the audience for close to an hour on a wide range of issues from transport access, to financial sustainability and environmental conservation.

“My view is that now plans are being seen and debated, the public are really excited by the vision and also understand our reasons for doing what we are doing.

“In summary, for me, there is a reinvigorated sense of anticipation about the future for Wycombe Wanderers and the town because of these plans.”

Steve Hayes, owner of Wycombe Wanderers and chairman of WSDL, said: “Tonight’s meeting was really positive and there was a genuine sense of excitement in the room about the new opportunities our plans can bring both the Wycombe Wanderers Football club and the town.

“At the moment we are involved in a process of meeting as many representatives from the community as possible to give them the facts about our plans. So far the response from all the groups we’ve met has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I am really encouraged because some people that I know who were negative are now coming round to see the huge benefits and now they want it to happen – we really are getting somewhere now we are meeting people face to face and fully explaining our plans.”

Further WSDL meetings will take this week with business leaders, representatives of local sporting groups, educational leaders and other local representatives. They meet Wasps supporters at Adams Park this evening.

Announcements on further meetings will be made available at www.wycombesportingvillage.com.
