ON Saturday the organisation spearheading protests against the controversial plan for a stadium and sports village in Booker will be holding a demonstration in Wycombe.

The GASP - Groups Against Stadium Proposals - demonstration, named The White Elephant Parade, will start at 2pm at The Rye and then travel to Frogmoor.

It comes just days before Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet is set to decide its future involvement in the project at a meeting on July 18.

Katy Dunn, spokesman for GASP, said: "GASP's stance throughout has been about burrowing through the hype to discover the facts and the real motives behind the scheme.

"Our strategists have exposed those along with the flaws in the business case and communicated their analysis to Wycombe District Council. The Councillors must already realise that this scheme is too high-risk to gamble on.

"However, there's nothing like a show of people prepared to make a public stand to influence the waverers, and every vote will count."
