JUBILANT residents took to the airwaves this morning to celebrate a council throwing out plans for a stadium and sports village.

Booker residents Alan France and Paul Baker were interviewed on BBC Three Counties Radio this morning, where they hailed cllrs decision to axe the scheme mooted for Wycombe Air Park at a dramatic meeting last night.

Mr France told a reporter from Three Counties Radio WSDL's business case and the council’s public consultation “were flawed”.

He went on to say the risks to the council were “astronomical”.

Mr Baker said, when asked by the reporter, he did not feel guilty about the loss of a potential 400 jobs at the complex, as the Cabinet’s ruling secured the future of about 250 people working at Wycombe Air Park.

A Wycombe Wanderers fan named Will was also quizzed by the radio station about the future of the club.

He said it is “good news” the Blues will not be moving into a new stadium but fears for the long-term stability of the League One club, which is in the red.

The BBC Three Counties Radio’s Breakfast Show will be available on the ‘listen again’ section of its website later today. See link below.
