Hughenden parish cllrs get their hands dirty to clean up pond

HUGHENDEN parish councillors got their hands dirty to clean up a pond which homes one of Britain's largest newt species.
Vincents Pond, at the bottom of Downley Road in Naphill, is owned and maintained by the parish council.
Having noticed it was in need of attention cllrs John Moorby, Brian Swain, Denis Hackling, Ian Guy, Roger Beavil and the council's clerk, Charlotte Watts and her partner Paul Hewes, donned rubber gloves to remove debris and weeds from the pond.
They made sure they did not disturb the habitat of the great crested newts which are hibernating there during the winter.
The council plans to refurbish the benches around the pond.

I hope they put some proper wooden benches in rather than the awful modern metal things that seem to be the norm these days.
