Body discovered near petrol station in Beaconsfield

HUMAN remains have been discovered near a petrol station in Beaconsfield.

They were found in undergrowth near the BP garage in Wycombe End shortly after midday today by a contractor working on a fence.

Thames Valley Police are investigating the discovery, with a forensics team being called to the scene. Officers are treating the death as unexplained.

The remains have now been removed and taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out tomorrow afternoon. Officers will remain at the scene overnight.

Police said there would be no further updates until after the post-mortem.

Crikey - "remains" sounds like the poor soul has been there for a while.

Years ago an old man used to sleep rough there - I wonder if it's him - died alone.

OmG it s unbelievable... I used to walk down that road pretty often with my friends when we went out.... I cant believe that at all. Beaconsfield was my hometown for almost 2 years and i felt really safe there.

The body may be that of someone who died peacefully - you never know - we are all going to be like this person one day. Someone found a previously-forgotten inhabitant of the Roman Empire, who had died naturally, lying in the garden of their newly-built house at Wendover, about twenty years ago, and the lady of the house refused to move in until this Romano-British person's remains - that had lain there for 2,000 years - had been taken from their original resting place somewhere else - if it had been my house I would have left them there and planted grass seed above. I think Beaconsfield IS a safe place Carole.
