MBE for Blues chairman Ivor Beeks

WYCOMBE Wanderers chairman Ivor Beeks has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list – as well as cookery writer Mary Berry, golfer Luke Donald and Beaconsfield’s town crier.

Mr Beeks, who has been Blues chairman for 25 years, has been made an MBE for services to football and the community in High Wycombe.

Luke Donald, who grew up playing golf in Beaconsfield and Hazlemere, has also been made an MBE after becoming the highest ranked player in the world.

He has posted on Twitter: “Chuffed to bits about the MBE, cheers for all the messages, I better start playing better in the majors otherwise they might take it away:)”

Cookery writer and broadcaster Mary Berry, who lives in Penn, has been made a CBE. She starred in the television series The Great British Bake Off and has written more than 70 cookery books.

Among the other award winners from Buckinghamshire were Dick Smith, the Beaconsfield town crier of 43 years, and Nora Tennant, a Cub Scout Leader with 2nd Beaconsfield Scout Group.

They were both made Medallists of the Order of the British Empire.

Seer Green resident Alan Kell was awarded an OBE for services to the development and delivery of sustainable buildings. He is co-chair of the UK/China Eco Cities & Green Buildings Group.
