Schoolchildren join Dream Walk for youngsters with cancer
A GROUP of schoolchildren are set to embark on a late night wander to support a charity dedicated to helping children suffering from cancer.
The six-mile Dream Walk, starting at Great Missenden Memorial Centre, will be raising funds for Prestwood based charity The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund at midnight on Friday.
The organisation was set up 14 years ago by Thomas Ball, then aged 9, who suffered from childhood cancer Neuroblastoma. The Misbourne School pupil died in 2003, aged 14.
The charity primarily raises funds for sick children to take free holidays in their lodges on the Hampshire coast and a Christmas trip to Euro Disney.
Hannah Murray, 12, Freya Holliman, 13, Luca Sciaraffa, 13 and Sky Broadhurst, 13 are all year 8 pupils at Great Marlow School. Hannah and Luca are Thomas's niece and nephew who have encouraged their friends to support the charity in their uncle's memory.
Elaine Ball, chairman of the charity and Thomas' mother said "This will be our fourth midnight "Dream" Walk and hopefully more people will come forward to help us raise funds to put a smile on the faces of very sick children, many who are terminal and living right here in Bucks."
To take part in this event on June 29, that will see walkers ambling from Great Missenden into Prestwood at the exact time of Thomas' death, please contact the charity on 01494 890157 or pop into The JNP Partnership, Prestwood and pick up a fundraising pack.
Complimentary refreshments will be served after the walk and water will be provided throughout the event.
