Wanderers under new ownership: Hayes completes sale

Trust finally complete Blues takeover Trust finally complete Blues takeover

THE takeover of Wycombe Wanderers has finally been completed with Wycombe Wanderers Trust Ltd replacing Steve Hayes at the helm.

The announcement was made on the club's website yesterday.

Under terms of the deal, the club will retain ownership of Adams Park and the training ground under a new holding company owned by the Trust, Frank Adams Legacy Ltd.

The takeover will also allow the accounts to be filed, therefore lifting the transfer embargo with days.

Speaking on the club's official website, Trust chairman Trevor Stroud said: "The Trust are delighted to take control of Wycombe Wanderers, especially in the club's 125th anniversary year.

"The plan is to work to a break-even model which will secure a sound financial footing for the club.

"I would like to express our appreciation to Steve Hayes for the considerate and constructive approach he has taken throughout the takeover process.

"In addition, we wish to place on record our recognition to the contribution made by Mr Hayes to the club's achievements during his tenure, and to Ivor Beeks and Brian Kane for their significant contribution to the process.

"We acknowledge that in order to achieve our ambitions we need the support of the fans as we enter an exciting new era for the club."

The statement does not say whether Beeks will continue as chairman, or how the Trust plans to finance the club.

Steve Hayes said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time, firstly as managing director then as owner, and my support for the club will continue to be just as passionate as ever.

"I'm extremely confident that the club are in the best possible hands and wish the Trust every success in control of a club which I hold close to my heart."

The club say further details will be released shortly and have planned a press conference for Monday afternoon.

Utter nonsense. The future of Wycombe Wanderers is now much safer than this time last year.

It will exist but in the Conference. The Trust will not have the finance or expertise to keep the team in the Football League.

Well at least the taxpayer hasn't had to contribute £75 million, regardless of whether WW are successful or not.

I sincerely hope they will be a success, which, at the end of the day, is down to the skill of the players on the pitch.

Isn't that down to the success of the players on the pitch, combined with attendance of the supporters?

Without this, the club will fail.

If what you say is true, then the club would have failed big time had WDC ploughed £75 million of taxpayers money into a team which is being forecasted by its supporters to fail.

These comments fully justify the successful campaign against the new stadium.

The Town folk of Wycombe have generally supported WWFC whether they have been in the Isthmian,Conf or football lge. Where as the towns rugby club has only a handful of followers and has largely been ignored. Then import a top flight rugby franchise and all the shallow bandwagon jumpers climb aboard. Perhaps if a fraction of the damp chino brigade had got behind HWRFC, then perhaps just maybe they could have emulated the Wanderers and bathed in national adulation.

Lets lgnore the doom merchants more interested in provoking a reaction here than making a serious comment. In an era where premier league teams and players have moved so far away from the fans Wycombe coming back to theirs is great news. So in my humble opinion if youve ever been to Adams park in the past and have drifted away come back now, if you want to see football clubs owned by football fans and not multi millionaires come to a game. Its a chance to start our own mini revolution.

The most successful period in Wycombe Wanderers' history when they wer promoted from non-league to the football league 4th tier then straight into the third tier, not to mention reaching the Semi Final of the FA cup, all came long before a multi millionare was the owner and long before a London Rugby club moved in. Yes, at this time the football club was supporter owned.

Now it's back in the hands of the supporters, with the aim of operating at break even, this is a good thing, in fact it's a model that ALL lower league football teams should follow.

I've little or no interest in football at all, but i've made a contribution in signing up to the trust and in doing so, in my opinion, helping to preserve our heritage. Now's the time for Wycombe to get behind the CLUB. Progress will come but at least it will be on a sound financial footing with the club being at the forefront of people's ambitions.

Yeh where has Steve Hayes gone? Latest rumour is that he is selling up in the UK and moving to Dubai. Although perhaps he might have to stop off at Jail on the way.

If the kids had failed the 11+ then this is the kind of comment that would be dismissed by saying kids have to learn about disappointment and setbacks in life and 10 is not too early.

I would have thought too, a trip to Gt. Ormond St. Hospital would redifine the interpretation of "shattered" and put things into perspective. While disappointing, if they are good at football, they'll get there, in the short term, the CLUB has to live within its means, when it does that, then I am sure that am-I-the-only-one can be rest-assured that the academy/coe will be restored.

I am not a WW supporter but can the 'doom and gloom' merchants not see that without somebody doing something the club would have been dead anyway!
If the trust have a good day to day management structure in place (not just the football side) they have a good a chance of making it work with true belief in what they are trying to deliver.
The trust and the team, make it a local success story. Get behind them , I will .

Why do you have to come across as so sanctimonious all the time?
