BEACONSFIELD's St Mary & All Saints Church came alive in a mix of vibrant colours at the weekend as it staged its annual Walk of Life flower festival. Hundreds of people took in the sights and smells of the impressive flower show that boasted different displays that celebrated all aspects of life. Church committee member Tamara Reading was delighted with how the event went, saying: "On-lookers told us that the flowers were fit for the Chelsea flower show.” A Labyrinth was the main attraction of the whole show and was centred in the body of the church.

ENGLISH lessons at Holtspur School have been made easier after pupils were given a personal dictionary by the Rotary Club of Beaconsfield. All children in Year 5 were given a copy of the Usborne Illustrated Dictionary, as part of Rotary’s Dictionary4Life international literacy project.

WAKEBOARDER Julia Haley received a £500 donation from the MARS Refuel Drink Fund. The 23-year-old from Beaconsfield, who has turned the holiday hobby into a career, is the current British National Ladies Wakeboard Champion and Pro-Tour Champion.

EIGHTEEN runners from across the country raised more than £3,000 for SignHealth, the Beaconsfield-based healthcare charity for Deaf people. The runners, including SignHealth staff Shabbir and Selina Rehman, raised the cash by taking part in the British 10k London Run on Sunday.

NEARLY 700 people braved the rain last weekend to visit a funeral exhibition at Chiltern Woodland Burial Park in Jordans. Wicker and eco-coffins, as well as personalised and bespoke picture coffins were shown.

JOIN wildlife enthusiast Derek Bourne for a late evening walk at Holtspur Bank this evening, to look for glow worms and bats. Parts of the route are steep with two stiles. The event is free and starts at 9.30pm, by the scout hut in Cherry Tree Road. Contact 01628 526 553 for details.

ST Michael's Church in Beaconsfield hosts a concert from the Chesham-based 'Damon Singers' from 7.30pm on Saturday July, 21. Tickets available at the door or from 01494 676373. They are priced at £12 including pudding and a glass of wine. The concert is in aid of Sharon International Ministries. Music to suit a wide variety of tastes.
