Wycombe shops hit by power cut
SHOPS in High Wycombe were left in darkness this morning after a power cut knocked out electricity.
Robert Dyas, Specsavers, Sports Direct, Thomas Cook and others along White Hart Street were all without power which resulted in stores being closed for several hours this morning.
The blackout struck at approximately 10:58am with power being restored at 1:55pm.
Manager of House and Furniture Mohammad Tokhi, another shop affected by the loss of power, said he was unpleased with the lack of information that he had received regarding the incident and worried it was affecting his trade.
“I’ve lost a lot of business. I’ve had to turn away customers. I can’t give receipts or even use my till, I can’t do anything.”
The power cut was the result of fault with a high voltage underground cable. A spokesperson for Southern Electric said: “Due to the nature of the fault we have teams working on it to ensure it doesn’t happen again. “We would like to apologize to all our customers and those who were affected by the power cut.”
