Bledlow Ridge team to take on cycle challenge

The Macmillan team
A TEAM of brave cyclists are planning to cycle over 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats, all in the aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team, who are mostly from Bledlow Ridge and the surrounding area, will set off on September 14 and intend to reach John O’Groats on the 23rd, meaning they will cover more than 100 miles a day.
This gruelling challenge is dedicated to Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity offering support to the two million people living with cancer.
The cycling group aim to raise £100,000.
Chris Plimming, a member of the team, said: "Everyone has been getting out at the weekends and doing a long cycle. Doing 100 miles a day, it is hard to find the time but we are getting to know all the country roads in Buckinghamshire well, which is something I enjoy seeing.
"We have even been incorporating cycling into family holidays - I am cycling to Devon for mine and another girl on the team is cycling back from the Lake District.
"We have two challenges really- the physical challenge and the fundraising challenge so our time is concentrated in two areas."
The challenge is tougher than the normal Land's End to John O’Groats route, as the cyclists have added in 100 miles to make sure they go through Bledlow Ridge.
They will do this on September 17 and schools and residents will be gathering at the village centre to show their support and help the team on their way. Following this there will be a fundraising coffee morning at The Boot in Bledlow Ridge, to help the team towards their £100,000 target.
