Shooting club enjoys success at hastily arranged event
4:21pm Wednesday 25th July 2012 in News By Rebecca Cain
HUNDREDS of people descended on a shooting ground in Lane End after a club set up a two day event with very short notice.
The E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground in Lane End organised the two day event after the huge CLA Game Fair in Leicestershire was cancelled due to the bad weather.
They had just a matter of days to organise the whole thing.
But on Friday 300 people attended and about 800 on the Saturday at the grounds in Park Lane, Lane End.
Managing director Rob Fenwick said "It was wonderful considering we had literally three or four days to arrange it.
"People had come for the first time and we were blessed with the weather."
The fair featured shooting competitions, 4x4 off-roading, helicopter tours of the Chilterns, archery, stalls, artists and more.
He said people came and had a go at shooting for the first time.
The E.J Churchill Shooting Ground is set amidst 40 acres of woodland and has more than 100 clay shooting stands and six clay shooting disciplines offering varied and extensive practice and tuition
opportunities.
Rob added: "We would definitely do it again. Watch this space for next year."
