THE Olympics are set to be celebrated during this year's Wycombe Community Festival next weekend - complete with a big screen for people to enjoy the London 2012 games alongside the summer fun.

The annual event, which will also celebrate the town's multi-culturalism, now in its sixth year, will be held at the Rye for the second time.

The free festival will give the young people of the town a chance to perform music, dance, drama or sports in front of an audience. Jacqueline Roberts, festival organiser, said: "It’s an ideal opportunity for any local talent to showcase their skills and take the platform at a local event."

She added that the focus of the day will be to build relationships within the community and providing a well balanced display of all the different cultures that live in the town.

Involved in the event will be the Wycombe Steel Orchestra - SV2G.

The theme of last year’s festival was ‘one year to go’ until the Olympics, and now with the Games upon us, the festival will show on a big screen some of the events taking place on August 5.
