Woman killed in A40 collision

AN elderly woman has been killed in a car crash on the A40 near Denham in the early hours of this morning.

Police investigating the incident believe she was travelling the wrong way along the Bucks-bound carriageway at the time.

The woman, who is from Surrey, was pronounced dead at the scene after her red Peugeot 205 was in a collision with a green Volkswagen Golf at around 4.40am. The Golf driver, a man in his mid thirties, has been taken to Hillingdon Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Thames Valley Police has now launched an appeal for witnesses to the crash, which took place between the Denham and Swakeleys roundabouts.

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact PC Jamie Smith on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org .
