Marlow's MP Dominic Grieve hails London Olympics a 'stunning success'
THE London Olympics have been hailed as a 'stunning success' by Marlow's MP, who also praised the town's own sporting victors.
Dominic Grieve, the Beaconsfield MP, said there had been a wonderful atmosphere at all the events he has attended, including fencing, but particularly at the rowing at Dorney Lake.
Mr Grieve, the Attorney General, witnessed many of the rowing heats at the home of the Marlow Regatta.
He said: "It was tremendously exciting and there was a wonderful atmosphere. I thought it was just amazing, there was a wall of noise, tremendous enthusiasm, massively good support for the British rowers and indeed the others. I really enjoyed myself."
On Marlow's gold medal winner Katharine Grainger, he said: "It's tremendous, really exciting and I think the British rowers have done very well generally and it's been very good news."
He added: "I'm very pleased to represent Marlow and particularly pleased to have Dorney in my constituency."
The Olympics have captivated the nation and any doubts or fears that London was not ready in the lead up to the games appear to have been dispelled.
Mr Grieve said: "I think the games have been a stunning success. The atmosphere has been so good.
"It's a great tribute to the organisers."
He believes there is a now a foundation in place for sporting success for the future.
