SUPERMARKET giant Tesco are part owners of a new coffee shop franchise set to open its first branch in Amersham next week.

The south Bucks town has been chosen as the location for the first Harris and Hoole shop, which is due to open its doors on Monday.

Just under half of it will be controlled by Tesco, which has a 49 per cent controlling stake in the new company.

The rest are owned by the founders of another coffee shop chain, Taylor Street, which has five branches in London and two more in Richmond and Brighton.

The new Harris and Hoole chain - named after two people mentioned in Samuel Pepys' diary - is being marketed as an artisan family-run coffee outlet. The first branch will open in Sycamore Road.

Tesco used to have a decent supermarket caff until Costa arrived and turned the thing into a coffee shop, whereupon I stopped using the store. Never heard of Harris & Hoole, but I hope it's more like the former than the latter!

YES, at last, somewhere to buy coffee in top Amersham!!! I would say that it's the planners fault but it isn't they're just following the rules. But, we don't need charity shops and coffee shops. There isn't a pub so to speak in the entire town, the Boot is a restaurant, and the Pheasant, well, say no more.
