Flats plan refused in Princes Risborough

A PLANNING application to knock down a Royal Mail delivery office and build flats has been refused.
 

W.E.Black Ltd applied to demolish the existing buildings at 11, Bell Street in Princes Risborough and build one block of six one bed flats and six two bed flats with parking, bin and cycle stores.
 

Wycombe District Council refused the application.
 

In the decision notice Jerry Unsworth, head of planning and sustainability, said the Royal Mail depot is part of the history and evolution of the town and a significant building in the Princes Risborough Conservation Area.
 

It said the proposed demolition would cause substantial harm to the Conservation Area.
 

It also said the development would fail to provide an acceptable level of amenity for future residents because of a lack of private amenity space for flats 4, 8 and 9-12.
 

It also said there was a lack of a S106 Planning Obligation which would have an unacceptable impact on services such as transport, police, open space and indoor sports facilities.
