MILITARY enthusiasts are in for a treat at Hazlemere Fete – with a visit from some army servicemen and a flypast by a Lancaster Bomber.

Organisers have pulled out all the stops for the Bank Holiday event and hope the 7 Rifles regiment, recently back from Afghanistan, can help them raise plenty of cash for the Help for Heroes charity.

The Lancaster is one of only two which are still airworthy and is also set to fly on over Hughenden Manor on the day - as a tribute to those who worked there during World War Two.

The historic home became an RAF intelligence base during the war, codenamed ‘Hillside’, where vital map-making took place for crucial raids including the bombing of Eagle’s Nest - Hitler’s bunker at Berchtesgaden.

The fete on Monday, August 27, is free and will run from 1 – 5pm at Sir William Ramsay Playing Field in Rose Avenue.

First prize in the fete’s raffle will be £500 and you can buy tickets in advance from Hazlemere Lighting, JNP, Hazlemere Community Centre and Childs Toys.
