Why do you keep your van unlocked if you have that sort of cash lying around in it?

Ok the owner of the van was stupid to leave it unlocked, but is this what society has come to in that if a person leaves valuables in a unlocked vehicle "they deserve to be robbed!" What a great country we live in.

Sadly Lady T, this is exactly what society has come to.

So anyone who leaves that amount of cash in car glove box (locked or unlocked) runs a very high risk of the vehicle being trashed.

But who does that? Wish I could afford to leave a few hundred kicking about doing nothing and not notice it missing for a few days (definitely NOT a sign of the times!)

Clearly the owner of the van has a very low IQ. Yes, they deserve to be robbed, he may learn from the experience. Next week we will hear how he has left his child in the van over night and they have been stolen from him. Lock it up, put valuables and children in your bag and take them with you...

Nobody deserves to be a victim of theft but it was very silly to leave money in the car. Police are always advising not to leave valuables in cars. It seems this person didn't read that advisory.

Not only did he leave it in the van but he didnt lock it, gravy. I bet the van keys were in the ignition along with his house keys and a post-it with his address stuck on the windscreen (incase he forgets where he lives). Could have been alot worse for the chap.

Am I the only person who thinks this stinks of insurance fraud? I hope the police stop wasting time asking for witnesses and interview the prime suspect.

General comment infers his money would have been safer somewhere else, like IN THE BANK. No .... ?

He should have pinned the money to his top and then the perp would have cracked him over the head before he stole it. More chance this chap would learn from his mistakes if something like that happened

Well we know that the insurance company will only cough up if the vehicle was locked so if I was that insurance company, I'd conduct a very thorough investigation!

I agree. It's not the fact that the guy left the money in his van. Let's not all get on his case. It's the scum bag that was strolling along the road and decided to enter somebody elses vehicle and have a rummidge for free stuff to nick, he is the one you should all be aiming your hate at.....
I still like to think that we haven't sunk so low as a nation, there are still places where you are relatively safe and do not have to keep everything under lock and key..... Not many though.
