New powers to control sex entertainment venues

Chiltern District Council has agreed new powers to control sex entertainment venues Chiltern District Council has agreed new powers to control sex entertainment venues

SEX entertainment venues will come under closer scrutiny in the Chiltern District after new powers were brought in.

The new Sex Establishment Licence, which will come into force next year, will allow Chiltern District Council to have greater powers to control venues providing striptease or lap dancing shows.

The authority agreed to bring in the new powers at its meeting of the full council earlier this month, to enable it to limit crime and disorder at venues, ensure public safety, prevent public nuisance and protect children from harm.

The new Act gives the council greater power to refuse a licence request - allowing them to refuse an application on the grounds it is not wanted in a particular area or is inappropriate for a certain location.

Cllr Nigel Shepherd, Chairman of the Licensing and Regulation Committee, said: “The adoption of the legislation gives the Council greater control over premises that wish to provide sexual entertainment and more importantly, greater powers to decide where such premises should or should not be located. This will no doubt provide more protection to the residents of Chiltern.”

No sexual entertainment venues currently exist in the district and the council says there have been no initial indications that any applications will be for a Sex Establishment Licence.

So the council now has powers to control something that doesn't currently exist and doesn't look likely to exist for the foreseeable future. We can all sleep safely now!

Is this the most pointless 'news' story ever published?

Such establishments have no place in Wycombe and they should all be closed down no matter what to preserve the moral fibre of the people.

To you actually read the news stories before ranting about them / promoting your blog?

You are suggesting these establishments be closed down immediately when the article clearly states that they don't even exist in the first place.

Or was it an ironic pointless comment on a pointless story?

Everybody - Please read the article before jumping on your high (white?) horses. It's about Chiltern District (Chesham, Amersham) not Wycombe District.

This article may well relate to goings on in another part of South Bucks but the last thing we need is Lucifer and his devilish agents putting their foot in the door of decency in the Wycombe area.

Do you mean they've move from Chesham / Amersham ?
.
In Amersham they burned people alive , who had the gall to read books in English. Now they are carrying out 'Martyr Tours' to celebrate the awful punitive tortures and deaths these just ordinary people went through.
.
What a strange thing to be proud of. But I suppose there must be money in it for somebody.
.
Did anybody tortured anybody excruciatingly in Wycombe ? That despicable provocative liar Ima Bigot with his untruthful whinges and distorted untruths about the Town , its history and its people does not count. Enough torture there already.

I quite agree. And, whilst you're at it, shouldn't you close all pubs (where strong alcohol might be drunk) all cinemas (in case they corrupt the young) and ban all shops from selling high fat foods in case they make people obese? Not to mention cigarettes, bookies and probably motor cars too. It needs a man of your moral fibre to carry the torch of morality forward - preferably off the end of Brighton pier.
