Woman pinned between two cars after rolling vehicle accident on Whitelands Road, High Wycombe

A WOMAN was pinned between two cars after the handbrake came off on a vehicle which slid down a hill.

The middle aged lady was rushed to hospital with a leg injury after being trapped on Whitelands Road, High Wycombe last night about 9pm.

The severity of her injury is unclear currently although it was just one leg affected, the fire service said.

The road was shut for over an hour while a police investigation took place.

The woman was there with her husband and a child and the accident happened at the bottom of the hill. It is not clear how far the empty car rolled before hitting her.

Alex Strand, High Wycombe Fire Station Watch Manager, said: “A vehicle handbrake had come off, it rolled down the hill and the lady was trapped between two cars, pinned in.

“She was rushed off to hospital with leg injuries. The hill was quite steep, about 30 degrees so looks like it was doing quite a speed.

“We assisted the ambulance service.”

He said although it was unusual to find a person pinned in that way the crew is sometimes called out for accidents when a handbrake has come off and a vehicle has hit another as a result.

Contax says...

Hope the lady is OK and her leg not badly injured. A tip to drivers when parking on a slope or hill, if facing uphill leave in 1st gear if facing downhill leave in reverse gear, park at very slight angle so if rolls back rear wheel will hit kerb and turn steering so if it rolls forward front wheel will hit kerb.

Fully agree with Contax. Another useful tip, especially on very steep slopes. How about applying the handbrake/ parking brake correctly in the first place. Fully applied and properly checked they are unlikely to "fail". Really hope the injured lady is okay.

There was a wedding and cars were parked all over the place, on double yellows, accross driveways. It was only a matter of time before there was a crash or an accident. Especially with all the children running around. Its a dangerous road at the best of times...
