Cabinet member backs 'super hospital' plan (From Bucks Free Press)

.. and when is he coming to Wycombe to be roasted !!!

You have to remember that Lee and May will support this wholeheartedly as it places a brand new, state of the art hospital much nearer their constituencies.

It is the opposite of Nimbyism. This is the sort of thing that people want to be close at hand. Imagine the brownie points Theresa May will get from her constituents if this goes ahead.

Lee, of course, also gets the cudos of being the architect of the plan as well. His legacy to the world. (Think the Bendeshye-Brown 'look at me' Award times a thousand)

The only way to get the money for the scheme is to sell other areas, such as Wycombe, short.

Lee and May couldn't give a tuppeney's about anyone else but THEMSELVES.

If Baker does not fight this then he will show himself to be a weak, self-serving opportunist. If he is to progress in politics he can't upset the likes of Theresa May, now can he.

So, let's see what happens. Probably what is best for them as individuals.

I have written on my blog that I already know for a "fact" that this is happening.

Staff at Wycombe Hospital have already been informed that this new super hospital is going to be built and Wycombe will be closed down and no doubt be turned into a mixture of housing and possibly retail developments as it’s close to the town centre/Eden, etc

The staff at the hospital will be loosing their jobs and there will for the short term only be x3 wards left.

This has been on the cards for a long time (i.e. a super hospital) and originally it was going to be built in the middle of Bucks to serve the whole of Buckinghamshire - I'm now guessing that the reason that those plans have been shelved is due to the bad road infrastructure to get to it.

So it looks as if a bunch of Civil Servants in Whitehall along with being championed by a Conservative MP will push the plans for this new hospital right on the doorstep of Mrs May.

It would be folly to believe that Steven Baker will fight against these plans as it would mean that his chances of a step up the greasy pole will fast diminish, especially taking on Mrs May who is one of the senior decision makers in the Government/Party.

This is a great shame because we all live in the hope that our vote actually means something when we place our cross next to the person that we want to elect to represent us at Parliament - but if you read my blog you will see how things really work..

I only wish that I was wrong - but even before Steve Baker was elected as an MP, he already had his feet under the desk and was meeting Paul Goodman's assistant in Westminster at the same time as our meeting with the previous Health Secretary Mr Lansley (when he was the Shadow Secretary )- before the last general election.

If Mr Baker doesn’t fight these plans, and doesn’t fight to bring back our Hospital for Wycombe - then I would seriously consider standing against him as an Independent Candidate in the next General Election and risk losing the £500 deposit as I know beforehand that he would almost automatically be re-elected by the Conservative majority of the population of the district.

I hope that I'm wrong and he starts to pull his weight over this and other "local" issues as I've not been too impressed with him so far.

Then i urge you to stand Darren, as a lifelong socialist you'd have my vote,Many people remember your stand against Mr Hayes and certain members of the WDC over the Booker stadium and the threat of the Wanderers long term future. Where as Mr Baker dodged and fudged the issue. So you can add WWFC fans,to that of disillusioned Libs and possibly tactical Labour voters and certain Tory supporters who dont want to see our wonderful NHS privatised and destroyed. (possibly not to many there though).

It's ironic that I turned out to be a Conservative as one of my relatives was one of the very first Labour MP's elected (Arthur Hayday) and he was a former President of the TUC.

Now I've reached the stage in my life that I'm not sure if I believe in Left or Right wing politics anymore - but rather I want what’s right for the voters.

I love my town and it's killing me seeing all of these decisions being made behind closed doors and riding roughshod over us all.

I too know staff at WH and they have not been told anything like this at all - the Trust have not said anything like this to them so clearly they are all believing the rumour mill - which of course you have now stirred up.
Perhaps you could share with us lesser mortals where the money will be coming from to build this new "super hospital"?

A decision this big, to close part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust - the Wycombe Hsopital part - would have to be decided by the board in public. No such decision has been made. The board papers are available online: http://www.bucksheal

Darren Hayday is just spreading rumours.

There is no way that this 'super' hospital will be built.

It goes against the whole idea of the NHS reforms recently passed by the government.

It is a worry that these so called experts and MPs seem to have these weird ideas that cause so much rumour and upset staff and patients.

I'm assuming that the staff that you know are either not affected by the shut down of the wards/units or are not allowed to talk because of the gagging orders that they have to sign.

In regards to the questions about the funding for a new super hospital I have no idea and how on earth would I know the answer to this? Perhaps you can ask the Home Secretary Theresa May as she has seen the plans and is excited by it.

What I do know is this: There is a fight between having the new super hospital in either Stoke Mandeville or at this new location that's talked about.

Time will see which site wins (if any) and to what will happen to Wycombe Hospital.

If I were a betting man I would say that the main part of the hospital (ie the old part) will be eventually closed.
But I for one will want to fight these closures and get the services returned back to Wycombe!

Not a bad idea i suppose, straight forward road A404 to j's 8/9, but like the do never put any thought in to the roads to get there, for a start A404 will need to be 3 lanes both ways. Bisham roundabout needs to be a flyover or underpass, and the entrance to be on the j 8/9. with another entrance off ascot road holyport turniong, as if motorway jammed up ease flow of traffic, and also 2 service roads one west bound for emergancy vehicles, and one east bound with a fly over into the hospital for emergancy vehicles.
