A NEW councillor will be elected onto the Princes Risborough Town Council next week.

There are two candidates in the Princes Risborough by-election on Thursday, September 13.

Residents can vote for either Iain McLauchlan or Billy Pettigrove, who are both standing as Independents.

There is a vacancy on Princes Risborough Town Council after Eunice Clifford resigned.

Spokesman for Wycombe District Council, Paul Wells, said: "We have not sent out poll cards for the Risborough by-election, but this was not a WDC decision.

"At parish council level, the parish council does has the option of whether to have poll-cards sent, and in this case, Risborough Town Council chose not to. A poll-card is not a legal requirement, and not having one does not stop someone from voting, as long as they are on the Register of Electors."

Without Polling Cards or other official notification, where do the residents find out where they can register their votes?
My mother has a postal vote, so she is clearly catered for. Is it on this voting basis that the election will be decided? This election seems to be neither cost-effective nor transparently democratic.

It's a toss up which is least democratic, an unpublicised election or co-opting a new member, which has been the normal procedure. In either case it will be business as usual - "let's see what we can spend on next".

This seems as mixed up and non effective as the councillors themselves.

Princes Risborough is a complete mess and in dissaray since the Independents were around, and it will stay that way until the day they are all voted out.

Well, if Billy Pettigrove wins I'll run naked down Princes Risborough high street.

Whiteleaf,
It would be a bigger and much more appreciative audience were you to do it at Kop Hill on 23rd or 24th September.
Human concours d'elegance?
Iain could bring his camera and add to his portfolio.

The town council and the BFP haven't even bothered to look up and publish the results. Maybe it's because they don't like the new town councillor. They did everything the could to stop people voting. Normally they have a large sign saying polling station and polling cards sent out. This time only a small sign outside polling station and no polling cards.
They want to save money for the new community centre that no one wants and Risborough can't afford.
