THE biggest event in the Stokenchurch Dog Rescue's calendar will take place tomorrow at the kennels in Oxford Road.

BFP columnist and former Dr Who, Colin Baker, will open the charity's summer fair and dog show, which runs from 12-4pm.

Money raised will help pay for a £223,000 unit just built for dogs newly arriving at the rescue centre.

The fair will include fun dog show classes, an auction of goods and promises, a kiddies’ corner with bouncy castle, stalls and more.

because the next BFP headline would read "Shock horror as Ivor goes to the Dogs".

On a serious note, I hope the event goes really well and that they raise lots of money.

This rescue centre celebrates its 50th anniversary next year and needs more money to keep going to save dogs' lives, I hear. An average of 39 dogs are rehomed every month with many of them taken in by this centre from other centres where longer staying dogs are put to sleep. I was there and Colin Baker gave a lot of help. They need more people like him.
