All Saints Church gears up for centenary celebrations

A CHURCH in Gerrards Cross is preparing for the first of its centenary celebrations this month.

The foundation stone of All Saints Church in Oval way, Gerrards Cross was laid one hundred years ago this autumn.

To celebrate this event, a year of celebrations has been planned starting with a Flower Festival and Concert on the weekend of September 22.

The church was built with the idea it could serve the new communities arriving in the area as a result of the development of the railway, now known as the Chiltern Line.

The year of celebrations that have been planned hope to put All Saints back into the heart of the community that it was designed to serve.

The flower festival will run from September 22 to 24 where a floral display will be arranged to enhance the arts and crafts theme of the church.

There will also be impromptu recitals by soloists throughout the event to tie in with the strong tradition of music at the church, as well as refreshments.

On the evening of Saturday 22, an Organ and Harp concert will be held amongst the settings of the flower festival.
