High Speed 2: 722 extra consultation responses overlooked

High Speed 2: 722 extra consultation responses overlooked High Speed 2: 722 extra consultation responses overlooked

THE Department for Transport has confirmed the number of overlooked High Speed 2 consultation responses has risen to 1,135.

In July, it was revealed that 413 responses had been left out by analysts Dialogue by Design.

This week Transport Secretary Norman Baker admitted more mistakes had been made and now officials have confirmed that another 722 respondents' answers were omitted.

He said it was technical errors in transferring data, but Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan has blasted the 'shoddy' handling of the process. She has asked if the Government will re-run the consultation.

To lose a few is unfortunate. To lose over 1,000 is quite an achievement.

Has anybody asked for an analysis of which ones were lost to see if there was any, errrr, bias ? Loss through ncompetence is one thing, loss through intent is entirely different.

Cheryl blah blah blah. Did nothing when she had the chance to make a difference.

Seems meaningless as it is a tiny proportion of the total consultation responses. It is statistically meaningless. Perhaps if they had sent them to the right HS2 email address they wouldn't have gone missing in the
first place?

If this is all the antis can focus on the day for high speed rail is clearly won!

The environmental case for the planned high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham has received a boost after a report yesterday found it could yield "significant" emissions reductions for the UK - as long as it is accompanied by a set of bold policy initiatives.
The study commissioned by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), RSPB and the Campaign for Better Transport says the £32bn High-Speed Rail 2 (HS2) scheme can help the country meet its target of reducing emissions 80 per cent on 1990 levels by the middle of the century.

HS2 - great environmental case
