Family's tribute to popular village doctor

THE family of a popular doctor have paid tribute to "a brilliant wife, mother and grandmother".

Caroline Jenkins, who was a GP at the Prospect House surgery in Great Missenden for 26 years with husband Lyn, died on Thursday September 6. She was 62.

Caroline was born in Cornwall and raised in Hemel Hempstead - where her father was also a GP - before the family moved to The Lee near Great Missenden in 1979.

Both she and Lyn retired from the surgery in 2006, having met at medical school before marrying in 1973.

Lyn said: "Her patients would all agree she was very caring, a good listener but very confident in her advice. She was very popular with the patients.

"She loved her family - that was her main reason for being.

"She was a good one with animals. She kept llamas and horses in a field next to the house and loved riding round The Lee. She was a wonderful gardener and quite a talented painter."

Daughter Tabitha said: "She was extremely caring, a fabulous doctor much liked by her patients and a brilliant wife, mother and grandmother.

"She was a doctor for such a long time she'd seen some people from being babies through to them having their own children."

Caroline leaves three children, Tabitha, Cressida and Hugo, and two granddaughters, Clementine and Margot.

A Memorial Celebration for her is being held at the Chartridge Conference Centre at 11am tomorrow.
