Stokenchurch charity break fundraising record
2:20pm Friday 21st September 2012 in News By Paul Wright
STOKENCHURCH Dog Rescue broke fundraising records as they held their annual summer fair and dog show.
Around a thousand visitors attended the fundraiser earlier this month at the kennels on Oxford Road, taking part in dog shows, auctions, bric and brac sales.
Organiser David Beven said: “It was a fantastic day and it was great to break our fundraising record. The donations were generous and suffice it to say that a good time was had by all.”
The more than £5,500 raised will help fund a £223,000 isolation unit recently built for new dogs arriving to the centre. It was opened by patron and former Dr Who actor, Colin Baker.
Further fundraisers have been planned for the rest of the year, including a dog walk on October 7. Having saved thousands of dogs from being put down since its opening, the centre is also set to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.
