Man airlifted to hospital after Downley fight
A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after he was struck with a ‘heavy object’ in a Downley cul-de-sac, police said.
The 29-year-old was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital after sustaining the injuries in a fight with man in Hawksmoor Close, police said.
The area was cordoned off by police officers this afternoon while paramedics attended the scene shortly after 1.30pm today.
Police said a 37-year-old man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Two women, aged 32 and 27, have been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting GBH, police added.
Supt Gilbert Houalla, Area Commander, said: “I am aware that today’s incident could have caused concern for local residents and would like to make the reassurance that this is an isolated incident.
“Although we are in the early stages of the investigation, we have made arrests and at this stage, are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Contact police on the non-emergency 101 enquiry line with any information about the incident.
