THOUSANDS of well wishers took to the streets around the district of Wycombe today to celebrate their Olympic heroes.

An open top bus parade carried the sports stars from Marlow to High Wycombe and then through Bourne End, Loudwater and Wooburn Green, before finishing at Higginson Park in Marlow.

Katherine Grainger – gold medal in rowing Profile: Katherine Grainger MBE – Team GB Rowing Katherine Grainger MBE is a British rower and a 2012 Olympic gold medallist. Grainger is also a three time Olympic silver medallist and six-time World Champion. She was awarded an MBE in 2006.

She first won silver at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 in the woman's quadruple sculls. In Athens in 2004 she won silver in the coxless pairs. In Beijing 2008 she won her third silver.

Katherine has won eight medals at World Championships between 1997 and 2012. She has also won the Rowing World Cup in the Quadruple Sculls in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010 and the Double Sculls in 2010, 2011 and 2012. At the London Olympics 2012, Anna Watkins and Grainger broke the Olympic record as they qualified for the Double Sculls final. They then went on to win the gold medal.
