Woman rescued from flat fire Woman rescued from flat fire

A WOMAN was rescued from a flat fire in Amersham this morning which police are treating as suspicious.

Officers were called to a Paradigm Housing property in Park Place just before 6am and said they rescued a woman, who was taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.

Three of the police officers were also taken to hospital as a precaution for smoke inhalation but have since been released.

Six flats were affected and residents were evacuated from properties as a precaution, but are now being allowed back to their homes.

A resident who lives opposite the building told the Bucks Free Press: "The entire level was on fire with flames billowing out the windows and smoke all over the place....There were so many police cars here the road was blocked off."

Police are investigating.

Five fire crews were called to the scene at 6.11am and used one jet, two hose reels and six sets of breathing apparatus.

A spokesman for Paradigm Housing said: “Paradigm Housing Group wish those rescued from a property in Amersham a speedy recovery and we will be liaising with Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Thames Valley Police to investigate the cause of the fire.”

I was there! I live just across the road from where it happened. The woman is a really close family friend.
The fire was horrific! Billowing out the windows and the smoke spread all around.
There were so many police cars and fire engines.
I just really hope she has home insurance as the place is now charred. I also hope that this will bring park place closer as a community as we help to rebuild the broken safety we'd felt before this happened.
